We made it to L1 and you didnt but there's no need to fight with each other.
As for our so called big budget this season how many times do i have to tell you Oxford fans thaat all our big wage earners were pushed out when Di Canio arrived in the summer and the players we have now were all free transfers apart from Foderingham,Rooney, Cox and Smith but the combined fee was 300k of those players and we sold players last season for 2.5 million.

The players this season were on alot lower wages but no one knows what wages any player was on as you are all guessing what they are.

So where you get your ideas from that we had a big budget is not true and dont use that as a reason why we won the league. Even if we did have a bigger budget you still have to get the team to perform on the pitch and turn into a winning team which is why we lost our first 5 out of 7 games as we had to wait for them to gel.

That is down to good management by a manager in his frst role as a manager in fact all the clubs like Oxford united should have had an advantage over us as your manager knew the league better than Paolo did, but Paolo is a very clever and astute guy and for all you Oxford fans dislike of him and lets face it you only dislike him as he's our manager if he was at Oxford you would love him he learnt quickly and turned things around. You can have all the money at your disposal but if the team dont gel you are stuffed and its happenned to alot of managers. Look at Lee Clark at Huddersfield the chairman backed him to the hilt gave him alot of money to spend and he failed for 3 seasons to get Huddersfield promoted. Look at Leicester this season with all the money they spent and again they have gone no where. So money isnt the answer to having a successful team it is having a good manager.
For the first three months of preseason our players were training seven days a week and Paolo said we would be the fittest team and we were and the amount of goals we scored late in games was due to other teams being knackered as we played a high tempo game as well and were very fit.
Oxford wont get rid of Wilder as i think the Oxford plan is gradual progression and you can still sneak into the play offs if crewe lose and you win on saturday.
Anyway we will be enjoying a better of standard of football next season as L2 is such a dire league where most teams play hoofball and i m glad i wont have to watch that dross next season."

Wilder fumes over ref's penalty call

The controversial moment from Saturday's game against Southend as United's Cristian Montano goes over The controversial moment from Saturday's game against Southend as United's Cristian Montano goes over

Chris Wilder fumed as Oxford United were denied a clear penalty on Saturday, but admitted making an official complaint about the referee would be a waste of time.

Trailing Southend United 2-0 heading into the final ten minutes, the U’s appeared to have got a lifeline after a moment of magic from Cristian Montano.

The substitute jinked past three challenges before being brought down just inside the area, but referee Lee Collins instead awarded a goal kick.

Wilder said even Southend boss Paul Sturrock thought it was a spot-kick, which could have given United a way back into a game crucial to the club’s hopes of reaching the play-offs.

The United manager considered requesting the assessor’s report this week, but the experience of similar moves in the past made him think twice.

He said: “I’ve put three reports in this season about the standard of refereeing and every time I’ve done it the assessor has 100 per cent backed the referee’s decision.

“I could have done loads more reports but I only do it when I absolutely think it’s certain in our point of view.

“I just think it’s a complete sham and I’m possibly not going to waste my time on it.

“I had Paul Sturrock coming into me after the game saying their lad held his hand up and said he couldn’t believe we didn’t get the decision, especially here with all the support.”

The defeat left United as long shots to reach the npower League Two play-offs with only 90 minutes of the season remaining.

To claim seventh position this Saturday, they must win at Port Vale and rely on Aldershot winning at Crewe Alexandra.

Despite going six games without a win, Wilder did not believe his players would have a problem dusting themselves down for one final effort.

He said: “They’re professional footballers, they’ve got to take it on the chin.

“It’s not a disgraceful situation that we’re in, it’s just that we’ve not been good enough over the last four or five games to get the wins to match the performances.”

OXFORD United Reserves complete their league campaign this evening with a home game against Stevenage at Didcot Town’s Loop Meadow (7) which will be the club’s final outing in the Tote-sport.com Combination.

The U’s have withdrawn from the competition for next season and will instead arrange friendlies where needed.

FORMER Oxford United manager Brian Horton has left Macclesfield after failing to save them from relegation from League Two.
