Constable rumoured to be a Bristol Rovers target

OXFORD United are reported to have received a bid for top scorer James Constable.

The 27-year-old striker is rumoured to be on the radar of npower League Two rivals Bristol Rovers.

Constable, who has scored 80 goals for the U's, turned down an offer to join Swindon Town in January.

United are yet to comment on the speculation.

I feel that Constable has lost his way a bit at OUFC, not sure either if the same relationship still exists between him and Wilder. This was rumoured on the Oxford boards last week, so no surprise. If we can get £200k for him, then let him go with our best wishes. I'm pretty sure that the club expected a bid to come in for him tha's why they did not put players on the open to offers list.

Word his it that Beano was told to sign for Sw****n and he refused to speak to them then he only started one game for the4 rest of the season. Fine man management and kick the guy when his form dips, he couldn't have done any worse than the loan strikers that were put out to get/keep us in the play off's. Either way good luck to him whether he stays or goes.

I am very happy that James Constable is staying at OUFC, it is very easy for football fans to knock strikers for not finding the back of the net, if the relationship between the player and the manager had broken down than why would he have signed an extended contract? I love Beano and this is great news. Stop knocking him, people don't criticise Wayne Rooney for a barren spell. Beano was injured so give him his due, can't wait for next season.

eatmygoal- get a life mate its you lot who mate death threats to Constable when STFC came in for him in january and if you were intelligent enough you would realise his game plummetted after the way you lot treated him and you cant blame him wanting to leave as you treated him like S***. so wake up he hasnt forgotten how you treated him and who can blame him for wanting to go. Another offer will come in for him and he will be off.

le god seems to know all about the constable situation, pity he is not so up to the minute with it at his own club. seem to recall they were all smug when lee holmes went there,it was all about him going to a bigger club with better prospects ,well looks like he has done just that but its not stfc, so he couldnt have been too impressed with the wiltshire wonders, wonder why?

Again your facts are wrong on Holmes - he wanted a 6 figure signing on fee and stupid wages and we werent prepared to pay it he's a good player but not that good and we have better players in the team than Holmes so if he thinks he is going to enjoy playing football in a team that hoof it then i thik he has made a mistake going to PNE.

There are plenty of players out there that are better so his loss and the games he played for us he didnt set the world on fire and to me the silly money he wanted he wasnt worth it.

As for you lot slating my team i think you need to worry about your own and where your going to be next season as it seems to me oxford are falling apart.

As for all you lot saying Paolo was off to west ham well unlike most people in football his word is his word and he said he was staying and now extended his contract. so you lot are wrong on every point which is perhaps why your manager always gets things wrong as well.

Mid to lower table finish i think next season for you - crowds will be down - Constable will be at Rovers or Northampton next season.

Rovers-Northampton-R
otherham-Torquay-Wyc
ombe-Chesterfield-Ex
eter-Plymouth will be the top teams next season and Oxford to finish 12th or 14th never mind you can follow us top 6 finish.

well le god seems you made my point for me ,your so called top club will have to be able to compete with the clubs in div one if you want to attract top players and preston being a bigger club were able to do that with holmes. as regards jc i do not use twitter as i regard it ,rightly or wrongly as a very juvenile concept but no doubt we have our share of idiots as you do and they may have posted stupid remarks that any true fan would regard as totally out of order. every player has his price and if the price is acceptable and the the player is happy to move then it will happen as it always has in football.
