The Enstone-based Lotus team had high hopes of victory when Romain Grosjean led for much of the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka today.
But he had to settle for third place behind the Red Bull pair of Sebastian Vettel, who secured his fifth successive GP win, and Mark Webber.
Vettel has a 90-point lead over Ferrari's Fernando Alonso with only 100 still available and is almost certain to seal it at the next race in India. Alonso was fourth, while Grosjean's Lotus teammate Kimi Raikkonen was fifth.
The Grove-based Williams pair of Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas trailed 16th and 17th.
