WALLINGFORD duo Colin Cusack and Sean Morris continued their sensational record in the Pairs Head competition on the London Tideway.

Since 2000, they have missed only four races and won their masters age category ten times.

Such is their success that their official entry is listed simply as ‘Colin and Sean’.

Now in the G class for crews with an average age of 65 or over, they were half a minute ahead of their nearest rivals.

Back in 1973 they were in the Wallingford RC coxed four that won the Britannia Cup at Henley.

Morris then retired from rowing to pursue his career as a wildlife film maker, but 20 years later, Cusack enticed him back to the river and the pair have been successful ever since.

Wallingford provided the only men’s success from Oxfordshire clubs.

Charlie Newbould and 2012 Oxford Blue Dan Harvey were third fastest in the elite double sculls, while another men’s masters crew, Pete King and Mike Edge won the D (over 50) double sculls.

The club’s women’s sculling squad continue with their winning ways.

Louise Hart and Minna Jones-Walters took the top lightweight title, while Kat Butler and Tori Bellamy won the openweight IM1 category.

Tomorrow, some of the top Oxon schools will start their competitive season at Reading Small Boats Head.
