OXFORD United could have a new face in the squad against Accrington Stanley tomorrow night as they close in on a signing.

A deal has not yet been agreed with a midfielder, but there is a chance it will be tied up at some point today.

Head coach Michael Appleton is hopeful, but after missing out on other targets in the last month, will not be taking anything for granted until a contract is signed.

He said: "There's potential, but I'm not getting too carried away with it because the last six weeks have been frustrating enough.

"We are in a recruitment phase where we now we're absolutely miles off it, but we're working very hard to put that right.

"If we can get something over the line today then great, but if not I'm not going to lose sleep over it."
