Oxford United have gone through the 2,000 barrier for season ticket sales, writes MARK EDWARDS.

The landmark was achieved two weeks quicker than last year, and does not include any executive lounge or box sales.

Of the 2,088 that had been sold at the close of yesterday, 370 have been bought by new season-ticket holders and 126 of those were buying one for the first time.

Existing holders have less than one week to renew their existing seat.

Their same place is only reserved until 3pm on Wednesday, June 10.

And with demand still high, the club’s offices will stay open for two late night sessions to enable fans to come along and renew in person.

The ticket office will be open until 7pm on Monday and Tuesday for personal callers and all telephone enquiries.

Meanwhile, Oxford United has gained national recognition for its consistent and outstanding delivery and commitment to the FA Girls’ Centre of Excellence programme.

The centre, based in Roman Way, runs five teams from under 9s through to under 17s which train three times a week.

Their aim is to develop the best young local players to progress and play for the club’s Women’s Super League first and development teams.

As a result of their efforts, all of the players and staff have been given VIP tickets to the Women’s FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on August 1.
