United match with Barnet is in serious doubt

Oxford United have confirmed that Saturday's League Two home match with Barnet is in serious doubt.

It has been agreed with Barnet Football Club and the Football League that a Football League official will inspect the pitch at 3pm today.

Even though covers have been on the pitch since the start of the week, the stadium has been experiencing temperatures as low as minus ten overnight. Temperatures at pitch side during the day have barely risen above freezing.

MATCH POSTPONED

U's v Barnet postponed due to a frozen pitch (!)

the inspection at 3 p.m. judged 'the playing surface to be too unsafe'

Well I'm glad it's off...it's bloody freezing. Perhaps Kassam might put in under seat heating for next season.

newburyu - yeah right ! in our dreams ! FK didn't get where his is today by spending money for no return !

I didn't realise before today that he started off in the slum market before moving on to multi-million pound developments ! From his Wiki entry :-

Firoz Kassam made his fortune as a slum hotelier and in the 1980s was labelled a "merchant of misery". He bought run-down London hostels and hotels and was paid by local councils to fill them with homeless people and asylum seekers, until the inmates rebelled over the conditions in which they were being housed.

I think it's very poor that the club/ groundsmen can't get the pitch in order, it's a little bit chilly, there is no snow. Also I'm a season ticket holder and if I can't make the re arranged game I get no refund but other people who have match day tickets do. Well done Oxford great way to treat your loyal fans.

The winter has been considerably kind to us, it's just one game, I'd rather have it on another day, yes I am a season ticket holder but what is the point of running around on a frozen pitch. Some common sense is needed. Well Done Oxford

Maybe but it's strange how a club that's ment to have ambition don't seem to be able to come up with a way to by the ground, we can't put underground heating in and we can't afford to spend money on new GOOD players.Anyway buying a season ticket is just like buying anything if they cant supply i should not pay.

Why are so many Oxford United fans so negative?

Game at Swindon almost certainly on, we have a dome over the pitch with heating, so the game can go ahead.

Our board and chairman have the desire and will to support the manager in taking the club forward and not further incurring a bigger fixture back log. If we win tomorrow we will be top of this league two.

Thats the difference between a team that still has its head and ideas in the conference and a team that wants to progress and on the up so we (STFC) have got heaters in as we want the game on so why couldnt the Poxford do the same - reason - they wont spend the money and whats more when the game is rearranged its likely your get less at the game as it will now be an evening game.

FOREVER IN OUR SHADOW

STFC and THE PAOLO REVOLUTION ROLLS ON whereas the Poxford United are still in Conference mode.

All the Pox fans keep coming out with the same old rubbish were spending lots of money so tell me where because all our players have been free transfers apart from 3 Rooney 150k Cox 50k Foderingham undisclosed but probably no more than 100k we sold players last season for 2 million plus highest average gates all bar Bradford who charge a cheap prive to get in plus weve had our fa cup run plus were in the JPT area final if we win it in total we would get 500k in revenue. SO COME ON POX fans you keep spouting off were throwing money at getting promoted tell me - answer - you cant because you make it up and in reality its all down to jealousy of us being where we are and you in the doldrums and going no where.

FOREVER IN OUR SHADOW AND ALWAYS WILL BE.

Yep but at least they tried - not like your shower and its tinpot ground - you probably pinched a couple of tarpaulins off of a parked up lorry up on the by-pass - laid them on the frozen pitch and got the Oxturd Mail to take a picture of their massive efforts.

Have a good week you lot.
