Oxford United offer contracts to trio

1:20pm Tuesday 8th May 2012 in Oxford United

ASA Hall, Adam Chapman and Wayne Brown have all been offered new contracts at Oxford United.

The club opted to release Mark Wilson, Oli Johnson, Paul McLaren, Anthony Tonkin and Aaron Woodley, whose contracts also expire this summer.

Dean Morgan, Cristian Montano and Scott Rendell have also departed following the end of loan arrangements, returning to their parent clubs.

No-brainer really. Hall was a dead-cert with his 12 goals from midfield, Chappers deserves another chance based on the appearances he made towards the back-end of the season and Brown is a solid experienced back-up when Clarkey is unavailable.

Davis has the LB position covered and we haven't even seen Capaldi yet so Tonkin not required. Oli sparkled on a few occasions but didn't show enough consistency and as for Wilson......

Of the loan signings only Rendell can feel slightly unfortunate not to be offered anything.

Let's hope Wilder can build a stronger squad in the close season and not have to delve into the loan market again come January.

CW has got it right, shame about McLaren (played well in the games he was involved in) and Woodley (never really had a chance). We do need to strengthen in all areas to ensure we have a good squad, especially in the forward line (though we will have Potter and Craddock fully back). In the backroom we really do need a forward coach, ideally ex-yellows!!!!

Think about it Oxford fans when we asked to speak to him in January you lot bombarded him with threats how do you think he feels now about playing for your club and you lot so called fans. His form has gone down hill and all because of you lot who tweeted him in january and can you blame him.

Trouble is with Constable he has shot himself in the foot as well and i would expect him to move in the summer but not to us as i think we want bettter quality than him now.

You Oxford fans did it your selves by destroying your season by what you did to your top scorer.

I see Hessenthaler has resignd from Gillingham, now where did they finish?
Even our Chairman says we were not fit enough now what does that say about Wilder and his team.
Perhaps people should stop thinking about the past and ask has he the ability to take us to the next level?

Thanks for the compliments regarding our achievements, think you did yourself no justice with the name calling - but hey it takes all sorts - some grow out some don't.
Le Gods point I agree with - and feel the tweeter warriors of your supporters possible scuppered a deal that could have given you club some cash and if spent wisely could have bought in players as opposed to the never ending loans you seem to rack up, and you lot may have joined us in the league above.
Don't expect you will agree with that - but then do I care - nah !

I agree with the comments about the Swindon fans, they're clearly still a bit bitter, understandably. And I agree we should sell Beano too, never really rated him. I do think Wilder needs to be careful what he says about his 'brave decisions in the past'. Like letting Midson go among others? We need to get a team together quickly so they can work together in the summer otherwise we'll have the same problem Swindon had at the beginning of this season. And we'd never recover from that the way they did with a squad our size, and hilliatman, are you actually serious about Heskey?! Championship clubs will be all over him & who is gonna pay his wages!? We need to look at the Watford model and focus more on youth. Their wage budget is pretty similar to ours.

Oh yeah, one more thing, did anyone see that article on the Swindon Advertiser the other day? No? Nor did I. Sad, sad lonely people. :)

Can honestly say M.E. there is no bitterness intended about JC from me - in fact I think we dodged a bullet there - in someway I feel sorry for you lot - you have the support but not the team too match or appear to have the clout to do anything about it.
Sad and lonely no - just interested in other clubs too. So whose the narrowed minded one - look in the mirror.
