Tonkin joins Aldershot

Anthony Tonkin has joined Aldershot Town after being released by Oxford United earlier this month.

The 32-year-old was not offered a new contract when his deal with the U’s expired at the end of the season.

The left-back, who was part of United’s side which won promotion from the Blue Square Premier in 2010, is set to face Chris Wilder’s side in npower League Two next season after signing an initial one-year deal with the Shots.

Manager Dean Holdsworth said: “Anthony is extremely experienced and a solid defender too.

“He is a good addition to the squad and I am really looking forward to working with him.”

Cheers for your service Tonks! I for one won't forget your performance against the Scum at the Kass Stad last season - you were top notch!

Good luck at the Shots!
