JAMIE McCuaig grabbed an extra-time winner as Headington Amateurs sprang a surprise with a 3-2 victory at Premier Division club Bracknell Town in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Bluefin Sports Cup first round.

McCuaig struck a minute into the second period of extra time after the tie had finished 2-2 after 90 minutes, with Ollie Zaja smashing home a free-kick in added time.

Tom Payne had given Headington a 17th-minute lead, only for Bracknell to score twice early in the second half through Jake White and Shane Cooper-Clarke.

Old Woodstock Town went out 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out at home to Brackley Town Development after their tie finished 1-1 after extra time.

Sam Sherratt’s opener for Brackley on the hour had been cancelled out by Jack Dunmall seven minutes later.

Marcus Mealing scored twice in Thame United’s 4-3 win at Fairford Town.

Adam Morris and Dan West also netted for Thame, with Jack Allen, Ballard and Matt Bouchard replying.

Shrivenham were edged out 1-0 at home to Brimscombe & Thrupp, with Aaron Nash grabbing the winner in the 81st minute. Hook Norton crashed out 3-0 at home to Flackwell Heath, whose goals came from Jamie Handscombe, Dan Rapley and Liam Tack.

Wantage Town Res exited with a 5-2 defeat at Wokingham & Emmbrook.

Dan Timbrell and Tai Hulbert-Thomas netted for Wantage, but Nick and Sam Bateman, Chris Yeatman, Lee and Elliott Rushforth gave Wokingham the win.

In the Premier Division, Milton United’s recent signing, Richie Claydon, hit a 71st-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw at home to Oxford City Nomads.

Jose Rodriguez had given Nomads the lead five minutes earlier.

Easington Sports went top of Division 1 East following a 1-0 home victory over Penn & Tylers Green.

Steve Howkins grabbed the winner in the 21st minute.

Chinnor won 3-1 at home to Finchampstead, with goals from Ryan Daly, Craig Faulconbridge and James Essex. Alex Smith replied.

Clanfield were unable to stop Longlevens opening up a nine-point lead in Division 1 West as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat at the Gloucestershire outfit.

Steve Olphert’s late penalty was in vain for Clanfield after Craig Beaton, Ryan Hughes and David Merrick had scored for the hosts.

Andy Caton scored twice in North Leigh United’s 3-1 win at Tytherington Rocks.

George Seacole also netted for the visitors, with Abdenour Amraoui replying.

Carterton moved up to second, despite being held to a goalless draw at Letcombe as Danny Joyce kept a clean sheet for the hosts.
