BANBURY United must not take their foot off the gas as they continue their play-off push with a swift return match at Chesham United tomorrow, according to boss Mike Ford.

The Puritans stretched their winning run to four successive games in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division with a 1-0 triumph over the Generals on Tuesday night.

Callum White’s match-winner moved Banbury to within three points of the top-five.

Ford is urging his players to keep the hammer down.

He said: “When you’ve just beaten a side, they will be hurting.

“To have them again four days later will be tough, but we’ve put ourselves in a great position where if we keep winning, we will put huge pressure on those above us.”

He added: “We have lots to play for, haven’t we? It’s been a really exciting season.

“We’re looking for our highest-ever finish in the Southern League, and if we continue to play like we did in midweek, we’ve got a great chance.”

Chesham boast ex-Oxford United defender Darren Purse in their ranks, and Ford believes they will be a tough nut to crack on their home patch.

He said: “They’re a decent team packed full of experience.

“I think if we get to the last game of the season with something to play for, we’d take that, and so we are determined to keep this run going.”

Midfielder George Nash returns for Banbury, who have a fully-strength squad to choose from.

John Brough says his North Leigh side will go on the attack against Division 1 South & West leaders Hereford at Edgar Street.

The Millers are full of confidence after reaching the Oxfordshire Senior Cup final with a 3-0 win over Oxford City on Tuesday.

And having caused Hereford problems already this season when going 3-0 up in their 3-3 draw in December, boss Brough is looking forward to the fixture.

He said: “A lot of teams have already lost before they kick a ball because they automatically think they’re going to be beaten.

“We were 3-0 up against them and it showed they can concede goals.

“If we attack them anything can happen.”

Goalkeeper Lewis Clayton replaces the injured Manny Agboola (dislocated finger), but Stuart Hole and Andy Gunn return.

Didcot Town boss Andy Ballard is a relieved man after his side picked up their first win of 2017 last weekend against Slimbridge.

He is calling on his team to finish their campaign strongly, starting tomorrow against Barnstaple.

Ballard said: “We’ve been losing games by minimal margins, but I must admit it’s good to get that monkey off our backs.

“It’ll boost the lads’ confidence.”

Ballard says the last eight games will give him a good idea of the character of his team.

“We’re not playing for anything, but my ambition never changes – I want to win every match.

“How we do in the next eight games will show me what sort of players I have.

“I’ll learn a lot about the boys and what their aspirations are.”

James Organ is banned while Ryan Barney (knee) is out. Stuart Cattell returns from suspension.

Wantage Town host Bridgwater Town in a bottom-of-the-table clash.

In Division 1 Central, Kidlington bid to stretch their unbeaten run to eight games when they travel to promotion-chasing Barton Rovers.

Mark Flanagan is unavailable, but goalkeeper Sam Warrell returns from suspension.
