Oxford United sent their fans home happy with a fine second-half comeback to beat Lincoln in the season's last game at the Kassam Stadium.

The Imps, desperately needing something from the game to boost their survival hopes, took a fifth-minute lead through Cian Hughton, who headed in Gavin McCallums left-wing cross.

The U's were second to the ball on many occasions in the first half, and Lincoln almost added a second goal when Ryan Clarke touched a Luke Howell drive onto the bar.

Lincoln keeper Elliott Parish was fortunate to escape a red card for bringing down Tom Craddock just outside the area at the end of the first half.

And United had a second lucky escape when Ali Fuseinie's angled cross-shot hit the far post early in the second period.

But Asa Hall volleyed home following a corner on 61 minutes, his first goal in front of the Oxford Mail Stand fans, to equalise.

And Tom Craddock whipped the ball off the toes of Alfie Potter, after a fine Potter run, and lashed in a shot from 14 yards for the winner 14 minutes from time.

The fans celebrated ending the home campaign with a win.

Like much of the season, it was a mix of good and bad but how much better a position they are in than opponents Lincoln, who may now have to beat Aldershot in their final game next Saturday to be certain of staying in the Football League.

Oxford Utd: Clarke, Batt (Purkiss 62), Worley, Wright (Kinniburgh 72), Tonkin, Payne, McLaren (MacLean 57), Hall, Potter, Constable, Craddock.

Well they DO, not may, have to beat Aldershot to be certain of staying in the Football League. Anything less and they may stay up, but it won't be certain until the Barnet score is known.
