Oxford United have been named as one of the favourites for the Sky Bet League Two title next season.

Michael Appleton’s men spent the whole of the last campaign in the bottom half, finishing 13th, but bookmakers are confident they will fare better next term.

United, along with Plymouth Argyle, have a best price of 14-1 for the title, behind only favourites Portsmouth (7-1) and relegated Leyton Orient (12-1).

United’s credentials will not be seen until League Two kicks off in August, but supporters have already received a boost.

United

Following Southend United’s win against Wycombe Wanderers in the play-off final, the line-up for next season is now complete.

The promotion and relegation shake-up has given League Two a more southern slant, which will see United’s away fans cover 5,669 miles – 372 fewer than last season.

At 60 miles, Wycombe’s Adams Park remains the shortest round trip, while the 544-mile round trip to Brunton Park for the visit to Carlisle United is again the longest away day.

Barnet’s The Hive, which opened two years ago, will be the only new ground on the travelling army’s schedule, although it is a decade since United visited Leyton Orient and Notts County.
