KEEPING the division’s top marksman quiet will be key to Oxford United’s chances of beating Peterborough United today.

Jack Marriott’s 28th goal of the season saw off Bury in the last minute on Tuesday night, taking the Posh back into the play-off places.

The striker has struck 22 times in Sky Bet League One – seven more than his nearest challenger – including the opener in September before the U’s hit back to win 4-1 at London Road.

Derek Fazackerley, United’s caretaker boss, was watching the £6million-rated front man at Gigg Lane in midweek.

He said: “Marriott’s got good pace, never stops running and he got a 90th-minute winner the other night.

“He’s someone we’ve got to be aware of, but we have our own threats as well.

“We’ve got to impose ourselves on them and hopefully on the day it will be good enough to get a result.”

United have no new injury worries, while the game comes too soon for the players in the treatment room.

Peterborough boss Steve Evans is also likely to name an unchanged 18-man squad.

Gwion Edwards (ankle) and Alex Penny (shoulder) are ruled out.
