Kerrouche - I am here to get Oxford United some goals

MEHDI Kerrouche is confident of making a big impact at Oxford United.

The Swindon Town striker joined the U’s on a month’s loan yesterday, with the move funded by the club’s 12th Man scheme.

And while he is aware of the rivalry between the two clubs, the French-born Algerian striker says that all he wants to do is play football.

Having scored eight goals in 18 games for Swindon this season, Kerrouche has fallen out of favour with Town boss Paolo Di Canio.

And the 26-year-old is determined to prove to the Italian that he has made a mistake by letting him leave.

“I know it is a rival club, but the more important thing is that I need to play football,” he said.

“Oxford have given me the opportunity and for this I want to give back the confidence that the gaffer (Chris Wilder) has given me.

“I’m happy to be here.

“It was my first day, all the players here have been gentle with me and I liked the way we worked.

“I play every game to score goals and when I am on the pitch, my only thinking is to win and to score goals.”

Kerrouche started the season in fine form, but says that he is still a confident player, despite his lack of games.

“For me nothing has changed, I am always confident in myself, I don’t doubt myself,” he said.

“Now with Di Canio I don’t play for this moment and I have to leave the club and play because I know my quality and know I can score, and for this I want to play now and prove it was the wrong decision (to let me go).

“If I score, it’s good for both Oxford and myself.

“I think this is why the gaffer here called me. My objective is to score as many goals as I can.”

Kerrouche is ineligible for the derby match between the sides on March 3 and admits it will be an interesting game for him to watch.

“Of course it will be strange, but for this moment I don’t think about this,” he said.

“I think about my fitness and I have to improve my fitness and for that I need to be on a pitch.

“I don’t think I can play 90 minutes at the moment.

“I am fit, but I have missed the rhythm of the competition and today I train with the team and it was good, but I feel I am not 100 per cent because I have missed that rhythm.

“Training is not a game and it is very different.

“I think that after a week I will be not 100 per cent, but can be very well and play a lot more.”

And if he scores, watch out for his trademark celebration – sucking his thumb.

“It’s for my daughter,” he explained.

“Since she was born I have always done this for her when I have scored.

“Hopefully I can do it as well at Oxford.”

News of Kerrouche’s arrival came on the same day that striker Jon-Paul Pittman was ruled out for a month with a hamstring injury.

Pittman is the third forward in a week to be sidelined through injury.

It was also confirmed that forward Matt Fletcher has left the club.

Kerrouche will score goals for you but we will take him back when he starts hitting the net its part of the plan to starve you Pox fans of what a goal scorer is all about and when he's gone then you will realise the gap in us and you and your average players.

Every time I read a silly little comment from Swinedump children, I can't help remembering the 70's and 80's. When we went to their little pig sty, the only Sw*ndon fans you would see, were the ones you could buy in the shops! Your little kiddies' comments crease me up!

Must say in the photo he doesn't look too comfortable in the 'dog sick' coloured shirt yuk !.

Is that a picture of your fourth stand in the background - how nice it looks, looks very rural... amazing how it blends with countryside.

Have a good week you lot.

Such a Naff coloured kit yellow and blue. Oh Yes the 4th stand they cant afford to build and the promise they broke to put it in place for us we even offered to pay for it and then some poor excuse that the traffic would be too bad, these Pox lot really come out with some tales of woe and they all seem to talk with a fork tongue as well.

The Pox fans talk as though they are flushed with fans when you see some of their comments yet still cant fill their current stadium with 3 stands.

Those were the days eh Dave - oh yes you used to have that massive ground (joke) that seemed to built from bits left over from the war.
Still I must admit it had more going for it than the present tin-pot ground of yours, might be better when it's finished and paid for.

Great tactic.

Mehdi has a month at the Pox, so will never play for us for the remainder of the season. He will be required to spend time in quarantine after 1 month.

But, it would be a great insider for their Cup Final in March, and he can even spell the words 'STFC' and be able to inscript this on the pitch again.

Kerrouche is a very good player and I am sure he will score goals for you lot, assuming your team make chances for him off course? And if he does start scoring for you we can take him back! As for Town fans coming on here, well believe me we had had to put up with the Oxford morons on our site for years, so ditto lads! Looking forward to the match at your 3 sided stadium which has severely restricted our support, nasty little trick you played on us there? Our board will remember your double cross. Pity Kerrouche can't play against us, and I am so looking forward to getting revenge! Oh and by the way as much as you hate to acknowledge the truth...it was Paolo's decision to pull the plug on the Constable deal!

Dog sick kit? Haha....keep ya all red kit.... Yellow and Blue are THE BEST colours for a football kit. He looks a zillion times better in it than your forever horrible shirt....
.
Constable refused to speak to sindon. Can't actually believe you still think anything different. Look up your own chairman's interview on BBC website. He says quite clearly, that "Constable decided he didn't want to talk to us". Plain as can be.

Mehdi, good striker not a team player, decent poacher, good luck to him at the pox, he's better than you have, if you could refrain from the death threats when he leaves that would be nice

Are there any Poxford posters on this board? Maybe they should rename this the Swindon Mail? I am embarrassed for you! Changing the subject, Poxford could become the Swindon "Nursery Club"? We could send our young lads and reserves to you on loan to give them experience and game time?

Lazaat I think this site is like their club - pretty stagnant .... highlight for them at present is to club together and loan a player from their rivals.

I think MK will be good for them, but if they want to buy him can't see them wanting or able to cough up much.

So it could be an extended loan, then we flog him to another club or have him back.

I begrudgingly accept that (at present) w*nkdon town are a bit better as a team, than ours. As far as lads supporting their heroes goes; as I said, in the 70's and 80's, your 'gang' consisted of a skinhead GIRL (literally) and a few (20 or so) 'lads'. Oh and yes, unlike your 'brave because they hide behind a keyboard' lot, I use my REAL name.
That said, I hope you get promoted this year! (It'll be funny watching slumpdon come crashing back down again, 'cos, like di c*nteo, the money won't be there to help you).
One more thing: When the mighty Yellows thrashed scumdon 2-1 at your play pen in August, I made this headline: Constable opens up a canneo of Beanos! (After he scored TWO against you.

Well that took some reading to make any sense of it.... and in the end it didn't really make much sense to be honest.

Have a good week you lot.

Daveduddo, Pleased you have accepted the obvious that we are a better team than you, we are also a much bigger club! And you are quite right M8, we won't be in the 1st division long cause we are planning to go straight up to the championship. Your jealousy is quite pathetic M8, Poxford are a small dead end club with a 3 sided apology of a football ground and you have sunk so low that you are snapping up the crumbs and rejects from your greatest and most hated rival club, I am embarrassed for you M8! You got a very lucky win at ours early in the season while Di Canio was trying to get a team together, it will be so good to stuff you lot next month and finally shut you lot up, because you have nothing else to brag about have you Dave? Are you the only Poxford fan on this forum? Again how embarrassing! Your lot used to come on and gloat on our board, this past month they have suddenly gone quiet. Bet that coward Constable regrets not moving to us now, mind you after hundreds of death threats from you Poxford lot I'm not surprised? Ta Ta for now Dave. Hi Chish & Fipps.

Glad I saw that photo now he has been in contact with the kit you can have him on a free. If he bangs in goals then fair play but I would not want him back now. I would not mind a recall if he starts banging in goals and sell him to someone else. That would be funny.
