Two of Oxfordshire’s F1 teams have been given permission to miss the next two grand prixs.
Caterham, based at Leafield near Witney, will be absent from the races in the United States and Brazil while a buyer of “significant financial means” is sought to rescue the cash-strapped team from potential obscurity.
Meanwhile, the Russian-registered Marussia, from Banbury, are also struggling financially and are still reeling from French driver Jules Bianchi’s serious accident in Japan three weeks ago They ran only one car in the last race in Russia as a mark of respect to Bianchi The air transport for all the teams’ cars and freight is organised by Bernie Ecclestone’s Formula 1 Management.
But the F1 supremo, 83, confirmed: “Neither of those two teams are going to go to America.”
