Harry Hill, from Radley, and the Abingdon trio of Jamie Copus, Vassilis Ragoussis and John Carter, were in the boys’ eight and fours as Great Britain’s juniors took part in the 12-nation Coupe de la Jeunesse in Belgium last weekend, writes Mike Rosewell.

The Coupe involves two days of finals and crews can be switched each day.

The eight finished first on Saturday and second on Sunday, while the coxless four took gold on both days.

The coxed four took two silvers.

Headington, Radley and Abingdon youngsters feature prominently in the British women’s and men’s eights named for the world junior championships in the Czech Republic, which start today.

The women’s eight includes Headington’s Fiona Gammond and Georgia Howard-Merrill, along with Lily van Broecke as the cox.

Ryan Demaine, the Headington coach, has been put in charge of the crew.

Radley’s coach, John Gearing is in charge of the selected men’s eigh,t which includes cox Ed Bossom plus James Cook and George Rossiter, from Abingdon Rossiter, who won silver in the 2009 Great Britain junior eight, is in the stroke seat.
