MIDLANDS 2 WEST SOUTH
BANBURY Bulls edged out leaders Earlsdon 18-12 at Bodicote Park in controversial circumstances.
Bulls led by that scoreline when a violent storm saw the referee deem the match unsafe to continue.
As the clock had passed 60 minutes, league rules mean that the result will stand, much to Earlsdon’s annoyance.
Alex Fogavini kicked a penalty and converted Jed Boyle’s try to put Bulls ahead.
Earlsdon pressure led to a yellow card for home prop Mickey Fox before their wing Tom Walker scored in the corner.
Walker then bagged a length-of-the-field interception try, Chris Scott converting.
Fogavini kicked a penalty on half-time, but his side had the wind against them in the second period.
However Earlsdon had two men sin-binned and Banbury were rewarded with Boyle’s second try.
Earlsdon, now back to 15 players, were pressing hard before the early ‘final’ whistle was blown.
