ALCHESTER clawed their way out of the drop zone after a 29-14 victory at Swindon College Old Boys.

The Fritwell-based side have now won their last two matches to leapfrog Reading Abbey and climb out of the bottom two.

Alchester opened the scoring on eight minutes, when Dan Kimber drove over.

Swindon replied with a converted try, but Alchester hit back when Ben Ancil took advantage of a fumble to score. Tom Miles converted.

Alchester’s Luke Kimber and a Swindon player were both sin-binned for stamping before half-time.

The second half was all Alchester, with Miles and Joe McEneaney running good lines to notch tries.

Miles converted one, while Robin Tyreman completed the visitors’ tally.

With 12 minutes left, Alchester had Adam White yellow-carded for tackling off the ball.

Swindon had the final say with a converted try late on.
