AN 80TH-MINUTE penalty from Ed Keohane earned Chinnor a 25-22 victory over Old Elthamians at Kingsey Road.

The fly half slotted from in front of the posts to seal Chinnor’s fifth successive victory in a nip-and-tuck contest.

No 8 Alfie To’oala powered over from a rolling maul for the first of a try double to put Chinnor ahead on 15 minutes, with Keohane converting.

Elthamians soon replied with a try from wing Renford Bennett.

Another rolling maul enabled centre Jack Hayes to notch Chinnor’s second before the break.

Chinnor scrum half Frank Jones was sin-binned, with White slotting the resulting penalty for a 15-12 lead.

Keohane replied in kind on 50 minutes and then converted To’oala’s second to make it 22-15.

But Keohane had the final say.

Returning fly half James Comben kicked leaders Henley Hawks to a 15-10 victory over Taunton at Dry Leas.

Comben, who had been out injured since the opening day of the season, landed five penalties as Henley made it ten wins from ten in very wet conditions.

Hawks had fought back from 26-0 down to win 30-29 at Canterbury the previous week, and this time rallied from 10-6 behind.

Comben, who had on-loan Ealing man Tom Parker as his scrum half, kicked the opening penalty on nine minutes.

By contrast, Taunton full back Gary Kingdom then missed three penalties, which proved decisive.

Eventually, Taunton’s pressure resulted in fly half Toby East splitting a stretched defence to score and Kingdom converted for 7-3.

Hawks had lock Matt Payne sin-binned before the break, with Comben and Kingdom exchanging penalties on the resumption.

Henley’s pack raised their game, forcing three penalties which Comben slotted.

Comben did miss one late on, but his contribution had been key.
