A solid all-round performance by Bicester proved to be just enough as they posted a 17-15 victory at Beaconsfield in Southern Counties North.

Bicester led 17-3 going into the last ten minutes, but Beaconsfield scored two late tries to give them a fright.

The visitors went ahead midway through the first half when a scrum infringement gifted them a penalty, which fly half Tom Miles slotted over from 35 metres.

Bicester struck again when No 8 Dan Spencer broke sharply down the left, before good ruck ball was recycled for lock Matt Dye to storm over from 20 metres for a try, with Miles again landing the conversion.

However, Beaconsfield rallied and open-side flanker Chris Creak plunged over to the left of the posts, with Walden converting.

Bicester conceded again when Beaconsfield winger Jack Hockin went over in the corner, but Walden was unable to land the conversion from wide out.
