Grove caused a big shock with a 24-7 win over South West 1 East leaders Chippenham at Cane Lane.

The Wiltshire club had lost just one of their previous 18 games, but Grove took them apart, scoring four tries to one.

A superb break by Grove centre Ben Nicholl led to wing Harry Carr diving over in the corner for the opening score.

Fly half Roger Sevier added a fine touchline conversion, but was struck down by cramp later in the half, with flanker Jack Horrocks coming on as a temporary replacement.

Sevier was back for the second period, but quickly picked up a yellow card.

Following his return, Joe Bellinger was next to be sin-binned for Grove.

Horrocks came on in place of the hobbling Sevier, but despite being a man down, Grove increased their lead with Carr’s second try after he was fed by marauding scrum half Joe Chilvers.

Lewis Surry pulled a try back for Chippenham, with Ryan Surry converting.

But Grove weren’t to be denied and centre Brendon White sailed over in the corner to make it 17-7.

Bellinger then sealed the victory with the bonus point try, converted by Carr.

Witney made it six straight victories with a 28-9 success at Devizes.

The visitors fell behind to a Rory Brown penalty after 26 minutes, which was cancelled out by a George Lewis penalty.

A Brown penalty restored the home side’s lead, which was extended by an Andy Thompson drop goal.

Lewis’s second penalty cut the visitors’ deficit to three points.

And Witney went ahead after the break when right wing James Monks raced away to score in the corner, with Lewis adding the extras.

Witney extended their lead when centre Jake Thomas broke through to make it 16-9.

Witney scored a third try on 77 minutes through second row David Hyde, with Lewis converting.

The visitors’ fourth they came three minutes into injury time with Ben Fisk and Charlie Bennett combining to allow scrum half Gareth Campbell to plunge over.
