HEAD coach Tim Rumford says Oxford will have to avoid the distractions of a potential glamour tie when they face Leigh Miners Rangers in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup tomorrow.

Kingstone Press League 1 club Oxford face amateur side Rangers in the fourth round, with the bottom four Super League sides awaiting the winners at the next stage.

However, Rumford is eager for Oxford to be purely focused on avoiding an upset against a side who ply their trade in the league below.

Rumford said: “We are looking forward to what will be a very tough test against experienced opposition.

“The potential reward of being in the draw with Super League teams will be a major factor for both teams.

“We have to remained focused on the task in hand, which is delivering a performance.”

Back row Adam Withington (rib) is Oxford’s only injury concern.
