BANBURY ended a run of three defeats in beating Old Centralians 33-20 at Painswick Road.

A Cash Chilvers try, converted by Ed Phillips, made it 7-0 to Bulls.

But they were punished for losing the ball and two tries, one converted, saw the hosts lead 12-7.

Banbury replied as Sam Stoop went over for an unconverted try, but they trailed 15-12 after an Alex Cox penalty.

Bulls started the second half well, scoring three converted tries.

Phillips, Josh Deegan and Jack Briggs went over to make it 33-15.

The hosts then hit back with an unconverted score and Matt Brock was sin-binned, but Bulls held on.

Witney lost 24-14 at Reading Abbey.

The hosts led 12-0 at half-time, thanks to tries from Gavin Dampies and Dillon Baptista. Oliver Walton converted the first score.

George Lewis crossed for a try and kicked two penalties to reduce the deficit to one point for Witney.

But the hosts responded and Dampies went over to make it 19-11.

Lewis kicked a penalty and Witney went in search of another score, but Abbey sealed victory when Jamie Burke was yellow-carded and Walton kicked the three points.

The score has been recorded as a 24-17 victory, but it is understood both sides are in agreement to have the result changed to 24-14.

Oxford Harlequins remain winless after a 12-6 defeat to Swindon.

Maleli Naiova’s try gave the visitors a 5-0 lead, but two Sam Watkinson penalties put Quins in front.

Adam Westall crossed for Swindon and Wayne Muhern converted.

Quins searched for a reply, but were held up on a number of occasions.

Grove earned a four-try bonus point in losing 37-25 at Maidenhead.
