MARK Chase’s try treble led Chinnor to a 55-10 demolition of Weston-super-Mare, which was their record victory against the seasiders.

The wing was named man-of-the-match, while six other players also scored in a dominant display.

With promotion rivals Redingensians losing at Exmouth, Chinnor’s hopes of a top-two finish were further enhanced.

Chinnor got off to a scorching start and led 17-0 after just ten minutes.

Full back Henry Colver was the first to touch down on two minutes, with Chase sidestepping through for his first and centre Sam Stoop grabbing No 3, which fly half James Cathcart converted.

Centre Matt Goode and Chase created a try for wing Tom Gray, who beat three opponents to finish, Cathcart converting.

Weston managed some pressure, but Cathcart collected his own chip to send Goode storming through for try No 6.

A quick line-out from Gray to Colver created space for Chase to motor in a superb try, Cathcart converting both for a 45-0 half-time lead.

The second half was far more even as Weston battled well and Chinnor failed to hit the same heights.

No 8 Liam Gilbert was driven over, then replacement Nick Harrison took Stoop’s off-load for try No 9, but Chinnor saw lock Tom Mowbray and Chase both sin-binned.

Weston’s persistence paid off with tries for flanker Jamie Rudkin and wing Matt Watkins.

Two tries from Huw Jones helped Oxford Harlequins to a 36-22 victory at Bridgwater & Albion.

Centre John Tevita sent full back Jones over for Quins’ opening try on five minutes, then Tevita scored himself, both converted by fly half Matt Smith.

Scrum half Jack Cosins off-loaded for flanker Sione Vaiomo’unga to score No 3 on 21 minutes, Smith converting and adding a penalty.

Bridgwater pulled it back to 24-10 at half-time, thanks to tries from lock Rob Thompson and wing Kyle Giblet, despite their flanker Nick Spellissy being yellow-carded.

Jones scored Quins’ bonus-point try, but Bridgwater scrum half Roger Drabble added their third try.

Quins centre Martin Nutt gathered Smith’s chip for try No 6 and the latter converted.
