HENLEY Hawks head coach Steve Barnes delivered a frank assessment of his side’s home defeat to Shelford.
Barnes said: “We gave them too much of a head start and our up-front tackling was very poor.
“We weren’t offensive enough. They had three or four good strong runners and we didn’t deal with them.
“We had the dominant scrum, which for some reason didn’t pay dividends.
“I don’t think we got too much change out of the ref, but having said that, I am not blaming the ref for our defeat.
“We have got to blame ourselves. Shelford have put a bit of a run together, but we are very disappointed with ourselves.”
