RUGBY UNION: Family affair in Witney awards

SCRUM half Gareth Campbell was voted Witney players’ player-of-the-year at their end of season awards dinner.

Campbell received his award from manager Dave Martingale, while his brother, flanker Carl Campbell, was also a winner on the night.

He collected the coaches’ player-of-the-year trophy from Phil Harper, who is stepping down as head coach.

Another set of brothers, Luke and Leigh Manning, also enjoyed a successful evening, collecting the top try-scorer and third team player-of-the- year awards respectively.

  • CAPTAIN Tim Ellis was named player-of-the-year at Gosford All Blacks’ end of season dinner, which featured former Bristol and England flanker Mike Rafter as guest speaker.

Liam Donnelly (young player), Chip Jefferies (clubman) and Steve Osborne (chairman’s club award) were the others to receive honours.
