RUGBY LEAGUE: Cavaliers eye title success
11:00am Saturday 18th August 2012 in Rugby
Oxford Cavaliers go for glory tomorrow when they take on Somerset Vikings in the Rugby League Conference West of England grand final.
Cavaliers, who qualified for the season finale with a 56-28 victory over Gloucestershire Warriors, finished top of the league on points difference from Somerset.
The two sides have met twice this season, with Vikings coming out on top on both occasions.
“To be in the grand final is a huge credit to both the guys that have pulled on a Cavaliers shirt this season, and the strides that we’ve made off the field to promote rugby league in Oxford,” said chairman John Connaughton.
Cavaliers will be without injured skipper Connaughton and goal-kicking stand off, Shane Turner, who each have a broken hand.
Irish loose-forward Ruairi Lynch joins them on the sidelines after breaking a clavicle in Oxford’s win over Gloucestershire.
The game kicks off at 2.30, at Oxford Rugby Club.
