RUGBY UNION: Witney let it slip
10:30am Tuesday 19th February 2013 in Oxfordshire Club Rugby
South West 1 East
WITNEY failed to capitalise on a dominant first-half performance as they lost 11-8 at home to Salisbury.
Despite leading 8-0, Witney were punished for ill discipline and errors after the break.
The hosts started well and their pressure finally told with wing Lewis Collins finishing off a slick backs move on ten minutes.
Fly half Henry Lamb added a penalty, but Witney were stung by an interception try.
Salisbury wing Luke Tuna-buna raced clear before gathering his own kick ahead to score.
Trailing 8-5 at the break, Salisbury came out rejuvenated and equalised with a penalty from wing Tom Pottage.
Witney could not make the most of a five-metre scrum and continued to concede penalties.
One such offence saw Pottage make it 11-8 on 70 minutes and that proved the winner.
