OXFORD had no answer to the power of the Littlemore pack as they crashed to a 51-21 home defeat in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Championship.

However, the hosts got off to a cracking start with a scorching try from Ali Gibb.

Nemani Rayabo kicked the extras to give the home side a 7-0 lead.

But Littlemore soon took charge and stormed into a big lead.

Rayabo was to feature later in the match when the result was beyond doubt as Oxford were chasing a bonus point.

He broke through the Littlemore line twice and twisted the cover defence before touching down under the posts. He converted both of his tries.

This was a game in which Oxford learned teams cannot win without the ball.

Wheatley held off a strong Harwell challenge to secure a 22-0 victory.

Winger Gav Stanton scored Harwell’s first try, scoring in the corner. Aaron Larman added the conversion.

They doubled the score when Jack Taylor showed a clean pair of heels to the opposition, Larman again converting.

Wheatley, who were twice reduced to 14 men by yellow cards, added further points with a penalty and a try by Larman, who missed the final conversion.

In the remaining 20 minutes Harwell put pressure on the Wheatley defence, which stood firm and saw out the game.

Jamie Cummings bagged 19 points as Abingdon scored a resounding 34-7 victory at home to Didcot in the BB&O Premier Division.

Cummings scored two tries and landed three conversions and one penalty.

Abingdon’s other tries came from Dale Cross, Ollie Young and Jamie Lockrie.
