A LATE penalty try earned Chinnor a 28-27 home win over Bury St Edmunds.
Just a week after securing the sole play-off spot in National League 2 South, the Thame-based side were pushed all the way at Kingsey Road.
Chinnor trailed 12-0 when Mark Kohler and Ross Taylor crossed, Fraser Honey converting the first.
The hosts were awarded a penalty try following continued infringements.
But despite also being down to 14 men, Bury were not deterred and made it 22-7 after Kohler dived over again before Honey, who converted the try, also kicked a penalty.
Ben Manning’s try for Chinnor, Jonny Bentley adding the extras, cut their lead to eight points.
And Manning dived over again, Bentley converting, to make it 22-21, only for Will Scholes’ 71st minute try to put Bury back in control.
Chinnor were then awarded a penalty try after more infringements to seal victory.
Henley Hawks lost 55-41 at 14-man Worthing.
The visitors led 14-0, thanks to tries from Tom Hall and Connor Hayhow.
But unconverted scores from Harrison Sims and Matt McLean saw the hosts reply.
Worthing’s Jack Haslem was red-carded, but they led 15-14 when McLean dived over again.
Henley’s Marcus Lowe and Raiders’ Jide Ayayi then traded tries.
Hawks led 24-22 at the break after Jack Robinson crossed, but Worthing stayed in touch thanks to a McLean penalty.
Matt Walsh converted his own try, as well as David Mcilwaine’s score, to put the hosts 36-24 in front.
Hawks replied through Hayhow and Scott White, but George Harris’ try saw Raiders lead 41-34.
However, David Hyde crossed to draw the sides level, only for late scores from Kiba Richards and Sims to secure victory for Raiders.
George Jackson converted two tries for Henley.
