RUGBY UNION: Chinnor name new chief

FORMER captain Paul Fincken has taken over as Chinnor’s new chairman.

Fincken has replaced Geoff Corpe, who has stepped down for health reasons.

The same meeting saw Chinnor stalwart Dougie Humphries become an honorary life vice president following more than 35 years’ service on and off the field.

Meanwhile, Chinnor will open their campaign in National 2 South with a trip to Launceston on Saturday, September 1.

Henley Hawks host Shelford that day and Chinnor on Saturday, November 17, with Hawks visiting Chinnor on March 30.

The division will feature four promoted teams as National 3 Midlands winners Rugby Lions have been transferred across from the northern section.

Oxford Harlequins host Barnstaple in their National 3 South West opener on September 1.

The newcomers to Quins’ division are London Irish Wild Geese, Malvern, Maidenhead, Brixham and Avonmouth Old Boys.
