Rowland Phillips insists London Welsh will not roll over after they were relegated from the Aviva Premiership yesterday, writes JACK JOHNSON.

A 29-14 defeat to Bath at the Kassam Stadium confirmed their fate as they are now a massive 25 points behind second from bottom Newcastle Falcons, with only four games remaining.

The Exiles still have their pride to play for as they continue to go in search of a first Premiership win of the campaign.

Head coach Phillips, who took charge for the first time on Sunday, says the players are focused on improving, regardless of relegation.

He added: “The situation has not changed.

“The ambition from the players to continue to train, improve and work hard has also not changed.

“When you put your shirt on you have to give everything you have got and that will be what I expect to see from the boys.”

Despite conceding five tries, Phillips declared himself pleased with the performance of his new side.

He continued: “It was a positive day for us as a group.

“We will now look to build from the performance.

“People could think that is it, but we are too proud to just switch off now and wait for the summer holidays.

“Twenty-three players put their life and soul on the pitch.

“And that shows their responsibility to this club.”
