OXFORD RL’s second half exploits were not enough as they suffered a third straight defeat in Kingstone Press League 1 against University of Gloucestershire All Golds.

The Blues lost 38-24 at The Prince of Wales Stadium, after being 22-0 down at half-time.

Late tries from Andrew Hoggins, Bobby Tyson-Wilson and Nathan Kitson gave them hope, but they fell short of securing their first away win of the year.

Oxford dropped to fifth bottom, with All Golds leapfrogging them into ninth place.

They conceded in All Golds’ very first break of the game, as Lewis Reece touched down.

Matt Bradley converted.

Just two minutes later, it was 12-0 as Steve Parry crossed and Bradley added the extras.

The home side increased their advantage when Ryan Pywell collected Bradley’s chip.

And Bradley made it 18-0 with a conversion from out wide.

On 23 minutes, All Golds grabbed a fourth try after a handling error was punished by Emmerson Whittel.

Bradley dragged his conversion attempt wide.

Oxford’s first half got even worse when Josh Nathaniel was sin-binned for lashing out at Pywell, but they saw out the half without conceding again.

The Blues emerged a much improved side after the break and finally got on the scoreboard when half-back Kitson converted his own try.

However, All Golds hit back to re-establish their 22-point lead when Alex Davidson went over and Bradley added the extras.

Oxford continued to improve and Nathaniel dived over, before All Golds struck again through Lee Mapals.

But the Blues stuck at it and, in a frantic ten-minute period, closed to within eight points.

Hoggins drove over, before Tyson-Wilson barged through to score a converted try.

Kitson then grabbed his second try to make it 32-24 with six minutes remaining.

However, their hopes of a comeback were ended when Chris Vitalini crossed and Bradley slotted the conversion.
