OXFORD RL suffered a fifth defeat in a row as they lost 42-12 at London Skolars in Kingstone Press League 1.

The Blues made two changes from the side beaten 34-22 by Barrow Raiders, with Andy Speake returning from injury in the halves and Charlie Green replacing Steve Scott (food poisoning).

Despite a delayed kickoff, due to the match doctor being stuck in traffic, Oxford started well, but Dean Mignacca was held up two metres short of the try line.

However, it was Skolars who opened the scoring on six minutes when Kazeem Faturoti ran in.

Mike Bishay converted.

Skolars captain David Williams scored two quick tries, before Matt Cook dived over.

Billy Driver then made the most of confusion in the Oxford defence to score before the break.

Bishay added two conversions and Cook was also successful for a 28-0 lead.

Oxford looked to improve in the second half, but Skolars soon stretched their lead, thanks to Will Lovell.

The Blues lost Aaron Jones-Bishop to a head injury, but they got off the mark through Josh Nathaniel, who raced to score a converted try under the posts.

Danny Thomas then dotted down, Louis Richards adding the extras for 32-12.

However, Skolars finished with the upper hand as Bishay converted his own try and John Paxton touched down at the death.
