OXFORD finished their Kingstone Press League 1 campaign with a 76-12 hammering at the hands of Oldham.

The result at Iffley Road sealed the title for the visitors, who ran in 13 tries.

They raced into a 28-0 lead after half an hour, before Oxford got on the board through Luke Gardiner.

Nathan Kitson kicked the conversion, but it was a rare bright moment for the hosts, who were overpowered.

Oxford’s only other try came when Louis Richards dropped on a loose ball, with Kitson again adding the extras.

His opposite number, Steve Roper, missed just one kick from the tee all afternoon.

Tempers boiled over in the last five minutes, amid Oxford’s frustration at finishing on a low note.

They finished tenth in the table, after winning seven of their 22 matches.

Afterwards Germany international Andrew Hoggins was named player of the season by Oxford’s supporters.
