OXFORD RL are still looking for their first win of the season after falling to a 26-16 defeat at London Skolars.

The defeat leaves the Blues pointless after two games in Kingstone Press League 1 and tenth in the table.

On Saturday, Skolars raced into a 10-0 lead, before Oxford replied through Casey Canterbury’s converted try after a scrum ten metres out.

The Blues enjoyed a period of pressure, but the hosts were next on the scoreboard, extending their advantage to 16-6 at half-time.

Skolars made it 22-6 after the break, taking advantage of a slip in the Oxford defence.

But the visitors refused to give in and went on to score two tries.

Firstly, Harvey Burnett went over in the corner to finish off a fine team move.

And Tom Holmes was next to cross after chipping through and running in under the posts.

However, Oxford’s hard work was undone when they knocked on from the kick-off and Skolars scored another try in the last few minutes to make it 26-16.

Marcus Brooker (pictured) made his 50th appearance for the Blues during the defeat.

Oxford CEO Adrian Smith said: “Marcus bought into what we are trying to do and achieve with rugby league in Oxfordshire and he’s become a key presence on and off the field.

“I’m delighted for him, I’m sure he will accomplish more this season and I know his family will be equally proud of his milestone.”
