OXFORDSHIRE'S top young player, Alexis Canter, won the ITF Junior Grade 3 Aphrodite Cup in Cyprus.

The 16-year-old defeated Patrik Rikl, from the Czech Republic, 6-2, 6-4.

The success for the Abingdon player will significantly boost his under 18 world junior ranking to a career high of 230.

CHOLSEY gave themselves a chance of winning Ladies Division 1 of the Oxfordshire Wilson Summer League after a 4-0 whitewash of Oxford Sports.

They need to beat Virgin Active tomorrow to have a chance of taking over top spot.

A draw at home to Oxford City was enough to see Norham Gardens promoted to Division 1 by virtue of better set difference with Oxford Sports B, both sides ending on 12 points.
