OXFORD Sports B had a baptism of fire against their A team as the Thames Valley Winter League season got under way.

The newly promoted side went down 8-0 in the Men’s Premier Division clash against their clubmates, who have won back-to-back league titles.

Ben Coomber, Dave Tuck, Tom Francis and Ak Izrailev did not drop a set in a dominant display for the A team.

OXFORDSHIRE champions Cokethorpe and Abingdon were knocked out of the Aegon Schools competition at the regional stage.

Cokethorpe’s year eight girls’ team lost 10-2 to Berkshire’s Claire’s Court, with Abingdon’s year ten boys falling by the same score to Wiltshire’s Marlborough College.

Abingdon will play Reading Blue Coat (Berkshire) in the boys’ year eight event next wek.

Oxford High School’s year ten girls’ team will take on St Mary’s, Calne (Wiltshire).
