Promising Oxfordshire junior Connor Ferguson won his first LTA Grade 12 & under event at Bath to jump to fourth place in the UK rankings.

The youngster, from Drayton near Abingdon, also moved to the top of the 12 & under leaderboard after strong showings this winter in major events.

Ferguson, the top seed, was challenged in the quarter-finals winning a third set tie-break 10-6, but then cruised through to the semi-final 6-3, 6-3 and final 6-1, 6-0.

North Oxford moved within touching distance of winning the Thames Valley League Men’s Premier Division title with an 8-0 victory at home to third-placed Woodstock The result piles the pressure back on second-placed Oxford Sports, who will need to win both their games in hand 8-0 to prevent North taking the title.
