OXFORDSHIRE’s over 55 men secured their Seniors Inter-County Championship Division 1 status with a 5-0 win over Buckinghamshire.

Jeremy Wood, Tony Munsey, Seamus Donald and Mark Taylor lost just one set.

The Oxon 65’s ladies suffered a 6-2 defeat to Devon.

Pennie Waldie and Ces Wheeler won Oxon’s rubber, but despite defeat they will remain in Division 2.

SAFFY Gujral was beaten in the second round of the HSBC Road to Wimbledon finals at The All England Club.

Gujral, from East End, near Witney, advanced from her group to make the last 16 of the county under 14 girls singles main draw, where she was beaten by Catrin Hughes.

She is still in the doubles, partnering Alice Shields (Cheshire).

Ethan Mclellan, from Buckland, near Faringdon, is in the boys consolation draw.

However, he was beaten 6-1, 3-6, 11-9 in the first round of the doubles, with Aidan Varela of Buckinghamshire.

OXFORD’S Gabriel Curreli won the Yonex White Horse Open in Abingdon with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Joel Good.

VIRGIN Active have been relegated from Men’s Division 2 of the OLTA Babolat Summer League after a 4-0 loss at Banbury B.
