OXFORDSHIRE have dropped to bottom of Group 2A in the 12 Counties Championship after the under 18 event at Corby.
Dan Taylor, from Oxford Sports, was the county’s strongest performer, winning three of his five matches as the boys lost 3-1 to both Cheshire and Buckinghamshire, but drew 2-2 with Hereford & Worcestershire.
The girls were unable to record a victory as they were beaten 3-1 by Cheshire and 4-0 in their other two matches.
However, Oxon are only two-and-a-half points behind second-placed Hereford & Worcestershire ahead of the under 16 event in a fortnight.
LONG Wittenham’s Alexis Canter and fellow Briton Alastair Gray recovered from a set down to make it through to the quarter-finals of the doubles at the Copa Del Cafe in Costa Rica.
The fourth seeds beat Nicolas Bacella and Juan Bautista Otegui 6-7, 7-5, 10-5 to reach the last eight of the ITF Junior Grade 1 tournament.
Canter was beaten 7-6, 6-4 in the second round of the singles by Jaimee Floyd Angel.
