ALEXIS Canter and Lucy Brown made early exits as North Oxford hosted an event on the Aegon British Tour.
Canter recovered from a slow start on the grass to win his first round match 6-4, 6-4 against Jake Williams, a lucky loser from qualifying.
But the 18-year-old was unfortunate to come up against top seed and world No 325 Edward Corrie in the last-16, going down 7-5, 6-2.
Oxford’s Brown, the other local competitor at the event, fell at the first hurdle.
The 24-year-old was beaten 6-3, 6-2 by Frankie Wilkes.
The event concludes today, with the women’s final at 10.30am and men’s at 11.45.
Entry is free of charge.
