WATSON Susan Mary (née Piggott) Peacefully passed away at the Churchill Hospital, on 8th April 2019, aged 69 years. The beloved wife of Alastair, a loving mother to James and Patrick and a much loved grandmother. A service of Thanksgiving will be held at Lower Heyford Church, OX25 5NZ, on 1st May at 2.30pm. Family flowers only please, donations if desired for Lower Heyford Church restoration fund c/o: Edd Frost & Daughters Family Funeral Directors, 14 Canada Close, Banbury, OX16 2RT. Sue was one of the first people I met on the international circuit. She became a friend (and remained one after we both retired) and someone I could contact when I needed help or inspiration. We started to work closely together when we set up, and ran, the first BUILA training programme. We didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when we were dubbed ‘The Snoop Sisters’ (a 1970s TV show) by Mike Gibbons. We laughed, of course, as we did many times over the years.
My thoughts are with Sue’s family at this very sad time. Adrienne Clarke

Sue was my boss when I worked at Oxford Brookes up until 2001. I have very fond memories of her office being next door to mine and when she had an idea, she would usually run next door, stand in the doorway and suggest that we should put a hatch (think 1970s serving hatch) between our office walls before launching into her idea. I knew Sue through work when we both sat on the national BUILA board and she was always a pleasure to meet up with. Obviously since she retired we have lost contact but I just wanted to say how sad I am to hear of her death and wish to express my condolences to the family and say I enjoyed working with Sue over the years when our paths crossed.
