(OXFORD, SANTAS ON THE RUN) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2017

NOTICE is hereby given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to facilitate the holding of the Oxford "Santas on the Run" event on Sunday morning 10th December, which is promoted by Hannah Barrett, Helen & Douglas House Hospice, 14a Magdalen Road, Oxford, OX4 IRW The Council is satisfied that it is not practical for the event to be held wholly off road. The effect of the order, for public safety reasons is to prohibit vehicles, including cycles being ridden in:
1) Broad Street, between Turl Street and Catte Street from 6am to IIam;and
2) Between 8.30am & I0.I5am in the following roads: Catte Street, Parks Road, South Parks Road, St Cross Road, Jowett Road, Longwall Street, Holywell Street, Mansfield Road;
3) Because of the closure of Longwall Street, westbound traffic from The Plain roundabout will be prevented from entering High Street other than for access to properties in High Street and Merton Street, and for Buses,Taxis and cycles.
The alternative route for west and northbound traffic is from The Plain roundabout to St Clements, Marston Road, Marsh Lane and the Oxford Ring Road. The relevant provisions of the Oxfordshire County Council (City of Oxford) (Central Area) (Traffic Management) (Consolidation) Order 2003 (as amended) will be temporarily suspended to allow light traffic to use Turl Street during the closures, and to remove and supervise access through the closure bollard at Keble Road.
Exemptions for access include cycles not being ridden, emergency services, event organisers, emergency utilities/street works, and controlled access to premises. Full details are available for public inspection at County Hall, New Road, Oxford OXI IND from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. These documents include copies of this notice, the proposed Order, maps showing the roads affected and a Statement of Reasons for the proposed Order.
