James Ward RA, an Artist at Work
To mark the 250th anniversary of the artist's birth in 1769, Thame Museum is mounting an exhibition of around 100 of Ward's drawings from a private colllecton, most of which have never been on display before. The drawings reveal the high quality of Ward's draughtsmanship and the wide range of his interests. A rolling presentation of projected paintings with accompanying text illustrate Ward's early and later paintings. A selection of books, articles, and other llterature, also on display, provide further insights into the work of a somewwhat neglected artist, in his day regarded as England's leading animal painter.

Derek Turner, the exhibition curator, will give a talk on Ward on Octobre 10th in the museum. The exhibition will also feature as part of the Art Crawl during the Thame Arts and Literary Festival and will be aditionaly open from 10am to 3pm on October 17th and 10am to 4pm on the 18th.
