Rygor, the UK’s largest Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer group has launched its Charities of the Year 2015, a new initiative to actively support and fundraise for a group of three causes which have been nominated and voted for by the company’s team members.

With more than 20 branches across the UK, Rygor’s chosen charities reflect the company’s geographical coverage. Wiltshire Air Ambulance, which is local to Rygor’s headquarters in Westbury, Hope For Tomorrow, a national cancer charity and Camren’s Steps, set up by one of Rygor’s Oxford team members to raise money for a life-changing operation for their son with cerebral palsy, have been named as Rygor Charities of the Year 2015.

Tim Stacey, managing director at Rygor, said: “At Rygor we have an exceptional team who not only strives to Set Standards in work endeavours, but also looks to give back to local communities and causes. Many of our team members hold certain charities close to their hearts, so we wanted them to be the key decision makers when it came to choosing which charities our company would fund raise for over the next year. We are proud to be supporting each of the chosen charities this year and look forward to coming together as a team to help make a difference.”

Sophie Haines, head fundraiser at Camren’s Steps and Camren’s mother, said: “We are extremely grateful and very touched that Rygor has chosen to support Camren’s Steps for the coming year. Having the involvement of such a large company will boost our profile and of course our fundraising total, we are really excited and looking forward to working with Rygor.”

Kenresa Stratford, fundraising coordinator at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as one of Rygor’s Charities of the Year partners, and look forward to developing this partnership over the coming year with the team at Rygor to raise funds to keep our life-saving service flying. Since Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s partnership with the police ended in December, the charity’s costs have increased from £700,000 per year to £2.5m per year, and the support of the business community is essential to us.”

Claire Cosgrove, head of trust and corporate fundraising at Hope for Tomorrow, said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen alongside these two other very deserving causes by Rygor staff. We look forward to working with them all so that together we can continue to bring cancer treatment closer to home. Hope for Tomorrow continues to grow as a charity, with nine Mobile Chemotherapy Units on the road and further expansion planned. This support will help to keep the ‘wheels turning’ for patients across the country.”
