From market stalls to taco takeover pop ups we’ve finally hit our very own permanent venue. 39 Magdalen Road in East Oxford has hosted a number of places over the years including Oxfork and GAF but now we are in and Taco Bandits plan to put our roots down deep.

It all began as a bit of fun for the two of us, me, Ben Gibbons, and Oliver Lee. After working with each other for a few years we decided to do something ourselves and have some fun. The first market we showed up at with Taco Bandits was Cheltenham Food Festival in November 2016. Since then we have had local slots at Gloucester Green Saturday Markets, held taco takeover pop up’s in a number of venues across Oxford, catered for Oxford College Balls, weddings, festivals and birthday parties, had our debut at this year’s new Bitten Street and now have our very own permanent Taqueria.

The Taqueria has given us a lot more freedom so we have updated and expanded our menu. Not only do we serve our beloved tacos served on different flavoured soft tortillas, we have added Taco Rice Bowls filled with spiced brown rice and a variety of different fillings, added a new sides section and desserts. It doesn’t’ end there though, with a regularly changing specials board we’ll be keeping it exciting with new dishes for you to dive into such as ‘slow cooked cured pork belly & wild garlic chimichurri taco’.

We think it is important to have fun with food and to have fun whilst you are eating it, so we bring big flavours to all of our fillings and add a range of different toppings to each filling to make every bite fun and interesting in to eat.

We top all of our tacos, rice bowls and nachos with sour cream which brings the cooling sensation, chipotle sauce which brings a gentle kick, pico de gallo adds a freshness to the bite, some fresh coriander bringing that amazing punchy flavour, fried corn kernals that not only have the most amazing taste but give that very important crunch and a squeeze of fresh lime for that zing!

Throughout the menu we aim to cater for everyone, we offer vegetarian and vegan choices and we have the option of wheat flour or corn tortilla bases.

We’re also considerate about those not keen on hot food.

For those of you who can’t get enough of the heat we have a bold and brave challenge! Eat three of our Adobo Chilli tacos in 15 minutes without anything to drink you’ll get it on the house AND get your photo on the ‘Bandit wall of fame’, fail and you’ll have to cough up the cash (£15) and get your photo on the ‘Most Wanted’ board.

Our drinks menu has evolved as well. Alongside our favourite Margaritas we now have Mexican sangria and plenty of shots of Tequila behind the bar.

Now that we have our permanent base we look forward to hosting you all. Open 5pm-11pm Monday - Saturday we hope to see you all soon!
