The Pinot Grigio grape, or Pinot Gris as it is known in Alsace, is closely related to Pinot Noir and its pinky-grey berries can look more like black grapes than white.

In fact, it has enough colour to make some really tasty and savoury rosés in the north of Italy.

Still riding the wave of immense popularity, this grape variety makes an immensely refreshing summer drink and can also be enjoyed with light foods, especially salads.

Pinot Grigio Delfina 2009, Italy A classically crisp, ultra clean style which has delicately scented flavours of apples and pears.

Dry River Pinot Grigio 2009, Australia An ultra fruity wine from down under, this has loads of citrus blossom, lime and grapefruit alongside green apple and crunchy crisp fruit.

Pinot Grigio Cantina di Custoza 2009, Italy Cantina di Custoza produce a pinot grigio with layered fruit, flavours of fresh pears and a long aromatic finish – quality wine.

Matra Hill Pinot Grigio Blush 2009, Hungary This late picked rose style has flavours of cherries, apple and honeysuckle and makes an excellent companion to dried meats and salads.
