The splendid Oxford Lieder spring series continues with this dream pairing of two world-class performers. Tenor Mark Padmore and pianist Graham Johnson, both well-known exponents of Britten’s music, celebrate the centenary with two of his song cycles: Sechs Hölderlin-Fragmente, his settings of words by the German lyric poet Friedrich Hölderlin, and the popular Winter Words, based on eight poems by Thomas Hardy.A selection of songs by Schubert completes the programme.
